Webinar: Office for Mac 2011 and SkyDrive for the Mac

On Tuesday, 05/22, we hosted a Webinar highlighting some basic features for Office for Mac 2011 and SkyDrive on a Mac.

As promised in the announcement blog, here is a recording of that session:

This Webinar focused on showcasing the applications at a very high level. That is because when we polled the attendees prior to the session, we found that >90% were PC users who didn’t own/work on a Mac but were interested in this talk.

    Just watched your WBINAR. This was meant for promotion and not for teaching certain functions I assume.

    I would request a WEBINAR: How to use the calendar functions and synch with the APPLE ICAL and avoid the double entries. This should be a “teaching” type WEBINAR and not the promotion type.

    Also the preparation should be a bit more professional. This WEBINAR I just saw was rather disappointing in terms of presenting and speaking.
    Much to fast spoken, not well structured. Do less in the same time, but do it right.

    Hi Rainer,

    Thanks for your feedback. As I say in my post above, when we polled the audience >90% were PC folks. The WEbinar was tailored for their needs. These people wanted to learn what the Mac Office had to offer. At the same time, I am glad to see that there is some interest in these WEbinars from the Mac folks who would like some further deep dive into core issues/features. We will keep you posted on our plans for Mac Office Webinars.

    A webinar on Outlook:Mac 2011 would be great. There are quite a few things that are different from Entourage 2008 (Mac), and Outlook 2010 (Windows).

    For example, something as simple as displaying the number of guests that accepted a meeting vs. those who declined. Outlook 2010 (Windows) displays this tally very easily, where is it in Outlook:Mac 2011?

    We’re upgrading all our 150 Mac users to Office: Mac 2011 by end of June, and Outlook is by far the most-used application. We definitely would benefit from a good in-depth tour.

    Just read a blog regarding Mac ical users getting invites from PC Outlook users; it said big problems with Outlook for Mac if I’m using iCloud to sync everything, which I am.
    Any one care to comment on this?

    I agree with the comments above. I would like to hear a more in depth discussion of MicroSoft Office tools on the MAC. Some specifics:
    1. synching MAC and outlook
    2. calendar invites from/to MAC with Windows users
    3. missing applications like MS Project and Visio
    4. missing new capabilities like Excel PowerPivot
